Job Description

Our Client is looking for a competent, ethical and professional practitioner to provide Psychometric Assessment services that support decision making during the recruitment, selection and development processes across all departments and job grades.

– Honours Degree in Psychology / Industrial Psychology
– Must be registered with the HPCSA as a Psychometrist (Independent Practice) or Industrial Psychologist

– Thorough knowledge of the code of professional ethics of the HPCSA
– Knowledge of best practice in the field of psychometrics
– Knowledge of relevant legislative frameworks which impact on psychological practice
– Sound understanding of psychometric properties
– Clear knowledge and understanding of scope of practice

– Accredited on the following tools: CPP, Psytech, EQi, Hogan Suite, Thomas TEIQue
– Excellent Psychometric interpretation, integration and feedback skills
– Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)


Must have at least a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a registered Psychometrist / Industrial Psychologist
Minimum 3 years’ experience using psychometric assessments in an organisational context for the purpose of
selection and development (i.e. Experience using assessments which measure cognitive ability, learning potential,
personality, emotional intelligence, interest, values and aptitude)
– Exposure to recruitment and selection practices
– Exposure to succession and development planning processes
– Exposure to talent identification & management processes
– Exposure to assessment centre tools (i.e. in-baskets, role plays, group activities)
– Desirable: Retail industry experience
– Desirable: 3 years’ independent registration in order to supervise an intern
– Desirable: Up to date CPD record

Some responsibilities:

– Administering a wide variety of psychometric assessments
– Coordinating and arranging assessment activities in all provinces
– Analyzing job competencies and determining appropriate assessment batteries
– Accurately scoring and interpreting psychometric and behavioral assessments
– Providing verbal feedback to line management (up to MD & Director level)
– Providing authoritative expertise and advice to clients and stakeholders
– Writing integrated reports
– Providing verbal feedback to candidates for development purposes
– Providing input into development plans and career guidance initiatives
– Providing input into talent identification processes
– Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
– Updating, implementing and maintaining assessment policies and procedures
– Training, coaching and guiding stakeholders on all matters pertaining to assessments
– General office administration (eg: filing of reports, managing records and databases, ordering assessment tools, processing invoices)
– Providing input into the psychometric assessments budget
– Ensuring the ethical use of psychometric tests including test security, confidentiality and informed consent
– Acting as an ambassador for the Ackermans brand in interactions with external stakeholders and candidates
– Taking full responsibility for all matters pertaining to psychometric assessments as the custodian of the Psychometric function
